Overview

JBlade ACAT™ is a Java library which implements a high performance IPMI RMCP client. A single instance of the library simultaneously communicates with 10 AdvancedTCA® shelves and synchronizes twenty end user applications. The end user applications are any type of GUI client. verification, policy or persistence manager.

The end user applications can manipulate sensor thresholds, fan speeds and power budgets of the FRU's. End user applications can reboot and power off indivual FRUs.

Fast

This is the fastest multi shelf RMCP client on the market. You design any test, fail over, multi shelf boot, anything and JBlade will, at your site, run head to head, on the same day, with identical hardware and beat any competitor.

FRU Auto detect

JBlade ACAT asynchronously detects FRU additions, removals, or resets and replicates this to the end user applications.

Caching

The entire state of each shelf is cached and as GUIs dynamically join JBlade ACAT, they are provided with the latest shelf state without sending additional IPMI commands to the shelves, conserving IPMI bandwidth.

Threading

Threading prevents a failure of one shelf from impacting the processing on other shelves while decreasing the message latency. Internally the library uses Java Thread pools for scheduling tasks and messages. You choose the number of threads assigned to a shelf. Fast ShMCs require fewer threads. Typically a 10 Shelf System Manager uses between 40 and 50 threads and requires a quad core CPU.

Protocol

JBlade ACAT works with any IPMI 1.5 or IPMI 2.0 compliant RMCP server. The RMCP messages are provided by JBlade Retuli™ libraries (purchased separately) or write your own messages. JBlade ACAT is independent of the target application. Use it with PICMG 3.0 or Service Availability Forum protocols.
