Hardware Developer Program
Overview
Using the links on the left you can file a request for JBlade to support your specific hardware. A single Hardware Support Request (HSR) adds your hardware to all the JBlade software products. We develop the graphics for the GUI and integrate the hardware into the Compass system manager. You do not need to be the manufacturer of the hardware to make this request.
Non-Refundable Engineering Charge
All hardware support requests require a non-refundable engineering charge (NRE). In addition you must supply JBlade with target hardware. The details of the NRE and the target hardware are found on the Hardware Support Request page. The target hardware becomes the property of JBlade and is integrated into our testing suite for future product releases.
Target Hardware
The target hardware does not have to be fresh from the factory. Minor cosmetic defects are acceptable but the hardware must function identically to the final product.

If the hardware is still under development, an engineering prototype is acceptable, provided that it is later replaced with a production unit. JBlade will not release our software support to the general public until the production unit is received and validated.

For all hardware the customer is responsible for shipping charges and import taxes.

If target hardware is specific to a Telco or a Department of Defense platform and you do not want it included in the publicly available JBlade products, additional charges will apply. Typically these platforms require multiple Blades and password restricted downloads from our website.
Compass
Included in the NRE charge is access to JBlade Compass Silver for six months. The version of Compass supplied under the Hardware Support Request contains the only target hardware and allows you to verify that the JBlade software is functioning. Compass Silver contains a bug reporting tool. Each person within your company authorized to submit bugs must download their own copy of Compass Silver. All bugs filed using this software can be viewed by any member of your company. These bugs can viewed by only your company and JBlade.
OEM Hardware Versions
If your hardware is similar to hardware that JBlade already supports we offer a 50% discount on the NRE charge. If you are going to purchase hardware and make cosmetic changes you must comply with requirement PICMG 3.0 Revision 3.0 REQ 3-422.
REQ 3-422
For any two or more otherwise identical FRUs with visually distinct Face Plates, the Product Info Area "Manufacturer Name", "Product Name", "Product Part/ModelNumber", or "Product Version" fields shall distinguish and identify the distinct FRU types.
When changing cosmetic appearance have the FRU Info Manufacturer Name changed to your company's name and the Product Name changed to your product's name. Without this change your hardware is not compliant with PICMG 3.0 Revision 3.0 and a system manager is not able to uniquely identify the hardware.
Company Logos
You are responsible for providing JBlade with a legal release that enables us to place the logo on our graphic rendering of your hardware. Your company logo must supplied to JBlade in Adobe Illustrator or SVG format.
Hardware Support Request Process
Using the links on the left fill out the hardware Support Request Form. After submitting the form a HSR Tracking Number will be displayed. Use the HSR Tracking Number in all correspondence with JBlade.

HSR Milestones
  1. Three days after submitting your request JBlade will send you an email requesting information or clarifying any open issues.
  2. After all target hardware has been identified JBlade will issue a price quote for the NRE and an estimated development time line.
  3. Three days after receiving the target hardware JBlade will issue a committed time line.
